Thurston to Stoke Ash
Happy World Autism Acceptance Month!
After a lovely stay in Bury St Edmunds, I got the train back to Thurston, to continue my journey.
I took some lanes out of Thurston, before joining a footpath towards Norton.
After Norton, I continued to Great Ashfield and Westthorpe. The sky was cloudy, but it was warm with little wind – another lovely day of walking weather! I paused at a small woodland for a rest and a snack.
Walking along, I passed a beautiful field of yellow rapeseed. The teasels in front made a lovely contrast to the bright yellow.
I continued onto Finnigham, which has another lovely village sign. I’ve enjoyed finding these signs in each of the villages that I pass. They all have their own character, and are so finely made.
I took lanes out of Finnigham, with a brief escape into this woodland. I think it must have been a plantation, as the trees were in such straight lines!
I soon reached Wickham Skeith, where I stopped at the duck pond. It was beautiful to sit and watch the ducks, whilst I had a well earned rest!
Finally, I crossed a few fields, before finishing at Girlguiding Suffolk’s Stoke Ash Centre for the evening. They very kindly let me camp on their site for the night, and put the heating on so that I could have a hot shower!
In the evening, I also had a visit from Brenda and Carol, who are two local leaders. It was lovely to meet them and tell them about my adventure.
