Gaddesby to Coalville
After a lovely time staying with Lucy, she dropped me off back in Gaddesby, and I was ready to set off towards Coalville. The sun was shining, but there was a bit of wind, which made it a nice temperature.
I set off along a footpath to Rearsby. It was lovely to walk amongst the hedgerows. I’ve really come to appreciate their beauty, but also their importance for nature. The birds make their homes in them and the bees and butterflies feed on any blossom.
I soon made it to Rearsby, where I stopped on a well placed bench.
I left Rearsby and took footpaths towards Cossington and to rejoin the Leicestershire Round. The views from one of the lanes were beautiful. It was really nice to see a couple of hills in the distance.
I then headed to Mountsorrel, where there was this brilliant sign mounted on someone’s house!
I then headed to Swithland Reservoir. The wind blew across the water, making waves on the surface.
I continued along the edge of the reservoir and along some footpaths into Woodhouse Eaves.
In the afternoon my body was a bit out of sorts. My sister happened to ring me, and it was lovely to chat with her. It made me feel much better.
I continued along a collection of roads into Coalville, where I finished for the day. One was busier than I’d have liked, but unfortunately there weren’t any alternative routes. Along the way, I met an engineer who works for the AA. He was interested in what I was doing and mentioned that he climbed K2 a few years ago. It was really interesting to hear about his travels.
I was glad to finish for the day and settled into the Bikers’ pub for the evening.
