A Rest Day in Alva
Today I had a rest day at Moira and James’s house. They both went to work, so left me for a lazy day and to do some kit admin. It’s been a lovely, and very welcome, relaxing day.
I started by having a lie in, then put my clothes in to wash. Meanwhile, I had a rest in bed.
Once my washing was out, it was lunchtime, so I headed into the village. I went to the cafe for lunch. I had a lovely panini and chips, along with a fruit tea. It was nice to sit in the cafe and do some sudokus.
My new boots had arrived at Moira’s, so I was able to return the faulty ones at the post office. It felt good to have it finally sorted.
I then popped into the co-op to resupply, before returning back to the house and to rest some more.
It’s been nice to take a slow day, resting and taking some time to be still. Now that I’m in the later stages of my walk, I find myself reflecting more. It’s nice to be still, and ponder those thoughts.
In the evening, Mary joined us for tea. I first met Mary when she assessed me for my Girlguiding Level 2 walking qualification (allows me to take my guides on open moorland). It was my first time walking in Scotland, and I was made to feel so welcome. Since, she has assessed me for my Level 3 qualification (allows me to take my guides on higher terrain (but nothing too rocky)), and cheered me on throughout my journey to ML assessment. It was really lovely to catch up with her. I’m so appreciative of all of the support and encouragement that she has given me.
After a lovely rest day, I’m looking forward to setting back off from Falkirk tomorrow, and in a few days I’ll be on the West Highland Way!
