A Rest Day in Rowardennan
When planning my trip, I decided to have a rest day on Loch Lomond. It felt like a good place to pause and I wanted to make sure that I experienced the Loch, rather than just walking along it.

I started my morning by re-waterproofing my boots. Then I sat in the hostel lounge, looking out onto the Loch. The rain was on and off today, so definitely wasn’t the weather for climbing Ben Lomond. (I’ll have to come and bag the Munro another day!). It has been really nice to have a relaxing day in the hostel. The hostel is mostly full of West Highland Way walkers so not many people stay more than one night. This meant that it has been nice and quiet, and I’ve been free to roam the place.

As I sat there, the resident Canada Geese brought their goslings onto the grass. They were very cute and fluffy.

In the afternoon, the rain cleared up and I went for a paddle in the Loch. The water was lovely and refreshing. It was so nice to feel the pebbles under my feet. The Loch was beautiful, accompanied by a gentle lapping at my feet.
I also had a go at skimming some stones. After quite a few misses, I was very pleased to skim three stones in a row! I tried one more, which did a loud splash into the water and I figured that maybe I should have quit whilst I was ahead!
I then sorted my bag out, so I’m ready to set off tomorrow morning. I’m planning to set off early-ish, so that I can get ahead of the crowds and hopefully the worst of the weather. It is forecast to rain for most of the day tomorrow, but I’m in a hostel again, so I’m looking forward to being able to dry off!
